I love a good sunburst granny square and so when I spotted this sweet pillow on Pinterest I knew I had to make it. The thing is, I already know how to make a sunburst granny square, and the pattern wasn’t free, but I’m not a jerk so I purchased the pattern anyway and then went to work on the pillow. I made 9 granny square sunbursts and then turned them into a granny square. The pattern designer used the join together as you go method but I’ve never been a fan so I joined them with a needle and a mattress stitch and I really love how it turned out. Mine turned out slightly different than hers because we make our sunburst granny squares a bit differently, but the idea she had to create this is just amazing. I have gotten many compliments and plan to make these for family and friends.
This chair is the chair I rocked my babies in – now 26 and 22. Colicky nights, teething, story time, all the time. Then, later on my in twenties when I ran a childcare, I rocked many other babies in this chair too. For years this chair has set beat up in storage until this past week my dad fixed it and painted it for me.
With the new paint, you can no longer see where the kids teethed on this chair (it was only gloss level deep) but I know exactly where they were and I love this chair and I’m so happy that it’s back in my life.
I think the sunburst granny square pillow is a perfect compliment to it.
